The 2012 CDOBloggers Officers

So today the board members and the new officers of CDOBloggers had a very productive meeting at Missy Bon Bon. I had to talk them through their position and even encouraged them to share their ideas on how they can help improve running the ORG.

Sure, it can be a very daunting task for this new set of officers however, I’d like them to focus more on the opportunity being given to them. Ever since I started this org, it has been a learning process for me. Admittedly, there were a lot of difficult challenges I had to face. It’s hard to run an org and deal with different personalities. You get to see the best and worst in people.

Brainstorming Time!

I must say though that there are more happy times and more rewarding experiences that have kept the passion burning for the ORG as a whole. To be able to make a difference in the society and getting to do the things you love with people who share your interests. CDOBloggers have been existing for three years now and we are looking forward to a brighter and better future.

Globe will be complementing this launch shortly through the announcement of a suite of new multimedia services, 4G devices and offers for customers to enjoy.

Globe is already the first and largest 4G network in the country. Since April 2009, Globe has aggressively pursued plans to establish its 4G footprint in the country with industry leading availability of WiMAX. As the country’s 4G pioneer, with one of the largest WiMAX deployments in Southeast Asia, Globe has already made 4G available in over 1,500 sites in nearly 60 provinces across the Philippines, covering 365 cities, including Manila, Caloocan, Cainta, Antipolo, Taytay, Plaridel, Cabanatuan, Dasmarinas, Bacoor, Imus, Tanza, Calamba, Batangas City, Cebu City, Cagayan De Oro, and Zamboanga.

About 4G and HSPA+HSPA+, or Evolved High-Speed Packet Access, is a 4G wireless, mobile, high speed broadband technology that allows for peak theoretical download speeds of up to 21 Mbps with upgradeability for 84Mbps. With HSPA+ technology, subscribers will experience high peak rates, lower latency, improved “always-on experience”, better multimedia upload, high-speed web browsing, and faster streaming and downloads. Under Globe HSPA+ network, subscribers are expected to enjoy browsing at an average speed of 4-6 Mbps with even faster peak speeds. HSPA+ is the chosen mobile 4G standard for other carriers globally including AT&T and T-mobile in the US.

Other technologies in the 4G category include Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and Long Term Evolution (LTE) as rated by the International Telecommunication Union. The ITU is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technology issues and establishes worldwide standards for seamless global interconnection.

In November 2010, Globe also completed field trials of another 4G standard, 3GPP Long Term Evolution (commonly known as LTE) wireless technology together with the SingTel Group and NEC Corporation. The field trial verified a variety of LTE functions such as quality of service; latency and hand-over within urban areas were tested as these are required for commercial use of the technology.

The winning brands announced during the recent ceremony were determined based on unit sales for the period January to December 2010.  The GfK No. 1 Awards is also held in other Asian countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, and Vietnam.  Accepting the award from GfK accounts director Gary Espejo (leftmost) and general manager Jake Savellano was Cris Soberano, channel development manager for Nokia Philippines.

The New iPad 2 has been revealed by Steve Jobs and is powered by an Apple A5 chip, a dual-core CPU that somehow consumes the same amount of power as the iPad 1′s A4 unit, but delivers “up to 2X” the speed. This also leads to faster graphics, which Jobs quoted as being “nine times” better than the iPad 1. The A5 is the “first dual-core tablet to ship in volume.”

The twin cameras on front and back support PhotoBooth and Apple’s videocalling protocol FaceTime. In terms of accessories, the iPad 2 supports a new HDMI cable that hooks directly to the 30-pin iPod connector. The idea is to boost presentation skills of teachers and business folk, and the system even recognizes if you rotate the iPad.

A new flush-fitting case has also been created, in multiple colors and coming with a neat magnetic latch that automatically conforms to the iPad’s shape. The sleeve, attached with a magnetic hinge, closes tight to the front of the iPad, thanks to more magnets. But then, it peels away to become a support for either typing mode or screen-viewing mode.
